akarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday questioned senior Democratic Party official Sutan Bhatoegana for the first time since he was named a suspect in a bribery investigation involving Indonesia’s oil-and-gas regulator, SKK Migas.
Sutan arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarter in South Jakarta at 9:45 a.m.
“I am ready, I leave it all to Allah, whatever Allah thinks is good will be good for me too,” he told journalists who asked if he was ready to be detained.
KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha declined to confirm if or when the suspect would face detention.
“Let the investigators decide,” he said.
Sutan was accused in May of taking bribes as a member of House of Representatives Commission VII, which oversees energy and mineral resources.
Sutan’s name came up during the trial of former SKK Migas head Rudi Rubiandini, who allegedly received $200,000 from Rudi via Commission VII member Tri Yulianto, for his role as commission chairman.
Jero Wacik and the Democratic Party have denied any connections between the party and the scandal, and also denied that Deviardi, who was Rudi’s golf trainer who allegedly acted as a middleman, was a member of the party.
