Jakarta. Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) presidential candidate Joko Widodo celebrated his 53rd birthday on Saturday.
His supporters made the event a trending topic on twitter, through hashtags #HBD_JOKOWIsahabatrakyat, #HUT53Jokowi and #JokowiBday, with thousands of well-wishers tweeting at the candidate’s account, @jokowi_do2.
Joko’s running mate, former vice president Jusuf Kalla, said he was preparing a gift for the occasion. “The present is [victory] on July 9,” he said, as reported by state-run Antara News Agency.
In Depok, sixty women gathered to clean the bus terminal as a symbolic birthday present for the candidate.
“We believe that Joko can clean up Indonesia from all the filth,” event coordinator Sahat Farida said. “He has worked his best in Solo and Jakarta. We believe if he becomes the president, Indonesia will be better.”
